Dear IADVL Members,
We received a lot of entries for the September IADVL SIG Dermatopathology (IADVL Academy) Image Quiz. Please find below the answer with explanation as well as the names of those who got it correct.
Answer: Cutaneous
plasmacytosis with calcinosis.
Histopathological findings:
Biopsy showed epidermis with irregular acanthosis.
Dermis shows trabecular bone with aggregates of plasma cells. High power showed
abundant plasma cells with eccentrically placed nucleus, cartwheel chromatin
and dense eosinophilic cytoplasm. Vonkossa stain highlighted bony trabeculae
extending up to subcutis. These features along with history were supportive of
cutaneous plasmacytosis with calcinosis.
