Dear IADVL Members,
We received a lot of entries for the July IADVL SIG Dermatopathology (IADVL Academy) Image Quiz. Please find below the answer with explanation as well as the names of those who got it correct.
Answer: Apocrine hidrocystoma developing in nevus sebaceous
Histopathological findings:
Biopsy revealed multiple cystic lesions in the dermis. Each cyst was lined by two layers of epithelial cells, the inner layer of columnar cells revealed decapitation secretion. In addition there are sebaceous glands directly opening on the epidermis and also some normal looking apocrine glands in the dermis. These features along with the history are supportive of apocrine hidrocystoma developing in nevus sebaceous.
